I placed #1-#7 out all together for the first time and I am really happy with how it is all coming together. It's taken a long time to complete each illustration because of building layers and creating textures but it has really been exciting working on these. With Nocturnal I have created around 100 new species of flora, combining reality and imaginary, for instance a black capped furry mushroom.

I keep a running list of the time it takes to start and finish each piece. It's interesting to be able to see how long each piece in a body of work takes to complete. I have a penchant for list making and I find it helpful, for instance, to see that the pieces for Nocturnal take at least a 1 1/2 months from start to finish and that larger pieces take about 4 months to complete. The weather here is perfect to open a window and work. Can't wait to be able to show all of the completed pieces, they're looking really really great. Really! I've been working on this piece for a while. Over the past few months it has morphed into different pieces with a longer story. I have started using a different paper and have freaked out a few times thinking that my slight movements were causing the graphite to party on over the lines.
